Nuttier than Ever Before
If you saw it last year you don’t want to miss it this year.
Twice the opportunity to take in the Nutty Nutcracker presented by The Sacramento Ballet at the Community Center Theater, Friday Dec. 9 and Friday Dec. 16 at 7 pm.
This updated version 2016 version of the Monty Python – like Zany version of the holiday classic, is not your Grandmother’s Nutcracker and is more irreverent than ever before.
Let’s go Nuts on Friday night. For tickets call 916.808.5181 or visit sacballet.org.
As Seen in Outword by Chris Narloch:
Any ballet fan worth their salt has seen ‘The Nutcracker’ at least once if not several times. But have you seen ‘The Nutty Nutcracker’?
The off-the-charts reaction to last year’s Sacramento Ballet production of ‘The Nutty Nutcracker’ practically blew the roof off the Sacramento Community Center Theater. It’s no surprise then that this zany, madcap send-up of your favorite holiday classic will perform not once but twice this year.
Don’t miss ‘The Nutty Nutcracker’ at 7:00 p.m. this December 9 or 16.
“The Nutcracker” has enjoyed enormous popularity, especially since the late 1960s, and is now performed by countless ballet companies each December.
‘The Nutcracker’ is a two-act ballet, originally choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov with a score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The libretto is adapted from E.T.A. Hoffmann's story ‘The Nutcracker and the Mouse King,’ by way of Alexander Dumas' adapted story 'The Nutcracker'.
For you purists out there, the “non-nutty,” original version of Ron Cunningham’s ‘The Nutcracker’ will perform as usual this holiday season, from December 10-23. Visit www.sacballet.org before tickets are all gone.
