See A Classic Comedy At The Crest For Free!
by Chris Narloch
Sacramento’s historic Crest Theatre on K Street is showing one of my favorite movies on January 8, 2017, and the kicker is that it’s absolutely free to the public.
The Crest is scheduled to show director Billy Wilder’s hilarious cross-dressing comedy “Some Like It Hot” this Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. on their gorgeous big screen, for free.
Featuring terrific musical numbers and gender-bending romance, “Some Like It Hot” is rated #1 on the American Film Institute’s list of the 100 greatest comedy movies of all time.
Marilyn Monroe’s mystique and legend continue go grow, even 50 years after her untimely passing. She is one of America’s greatest superstars, and her talent and beauty were never so well displayed as in Wilder’s comedy masterpiece.
Opposite the great Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis, Monroe is absolutely charming in this tale of two musicians forced to disguise themselves as women and hide out in an all-girl band, to avoid being ‘rubbed out’ after they witness the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre.
You can always record the Golden Globes (which are the same night) and watch it later on. Actually, that’s the only way to watch the Golden Globes because then you can fast forward through the categories and acceptance speeches you don’t care about.
What better way to spend a rainy Sunday evening than at the Crest Theatre watching one of the funniest films ever made. Visit www.crestsacramento.com to reserve up to 10 free tickets per person for “Some Like It Hot.”
