Join the Sacramento LGBT Community Center for the Sacramento Women’s March

Saturday, Jan. 21, 9 a.m. at Southside Park, 2115 6th St, Sacramento, CA 95818

What will happen to the Affordable Care Act, to reproductive and HIV healthcare, to the rights of LGBTQ elders? What will happen to immigrants, Muslims, women—our family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors? There are so many questions and so few certain answers. The need for our community to come together has never been more imperative.

Just as you have supported the Sacramento LGBT Community Center for over 30 years, we will continue to be here to support all LGBTQ people and the most marginalized in our community. Regardless of what happens, the Center will continue to be a place where youth, people of color, elders, the homeless, and the transgender community will be safe, welcome, and valued. The Sacramento LGBT Community Center will continue to support health and wellness, advocate for equity and justice, build a culturally rich community. Today we resist fear, hate, and oppression.

Tomorrow, please join the Center for the Sacramento Women’s March. “In the spirit of democracy, and honoring the champions of human rights, dignity, and justice who have come before us, we join in solidarity to show that our presence in numbers is too great to ignore. The Women’s March on Washington, the Women’s March on Sacramento and sister marches across the country and around the world, will send a bold message to our new administration on their first day in office, and to the world, that women’s rights are human rights. We stand together, recognizing that defending the most marginalized among us is defending all of us.

9:30 a.m.       Pre-March Rally
10:00 a.m.     March from Southside Park
12:00 p.m.     Rally at the Capitol

We support the advocacy and resistance movements that reflect our multiple and intersecting identities. We call on all defenders of human rights to join us. This March is the first step towards unifying our communities, grounded in new relationships, to create change from the grassroots level up. We will not rest until women have parity and equity at all levels of leadership in society. We work peacefully while recognizing there is no true peace without justice and equity for all.”*
