Prop. 14 Is Too Risky for the LGBT Community

Prop. 14, will change the California election process in a way that increases the odds of empowering anti-gay candidates.

If passed, all congressional and statewide representative candidates will run on a single Primary Election ballot. Voters could vote for whomever they want regardless of whether they are a Democrat, a Republican, with a third party, an independent voter, or a “decline to state” voter.

That does not sound bad - yet.

Downtown Sacramento Will Come Alive With Summer EventsDowntown Concerts

The countdown to summer has begun and the Downtown Sacramento Partnership (DSP) has announced its summer events schedule for Cesar Chavez Plaza with the return of the weekly Certified Farmers’ Markets and Friday Night Concerts in the Park in May.

The DSP will also introduce two new events this year including I Heart Art, a weekly craft market featuring local artists and Music Mondays, a lunchtime concert series.

Report Reveals Efforts to Find the Right Message for Marriage EqualityFreedom to Marry

Analysis from 75 research studies on getting the right message out on same-sex marriage has been released in a new report by the Let California Ring coalition, a public education campaign on marriage for gay and lesbian couples.

The report, Moving Marriage Forward, is based on studies that were conducted in California and across the country. Freedom to Marry, a member of the Let California Ring coalition, compiled and analyzed the studies. The Let California Ring coalition is hosted by Equality California Institute.

Lt. Dan Choi Arrested at White House ProtestLt. Choi

Lt. Dan Choi, an openly gay Iraq war veteran who has been an outspoken opponent of the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, and former Army infantryman Jim Pietrangelo were arrested Thursday, March 18, after chaining themselves to a fence at the White House.

Pietrangelo has been discharged from the military under DADT, and Choi has a case pending regarding his discharge.
