‘La La Land’ -- Bigger & Better in IMAX

If you haven’t yet seen ‘La La Land,’ the frontrunner to win Best Picture at this year’s Oscars – or maybe you loved it so much that you want to watch it again – you can now enjoy the film on the largest movie screen in town, Sacramento’s Esquire IMAX Theatre on K Street.

The movie’s soundtrack recently reached #1 on the ITunes album chart, and the film has become a date-night phenomenon, bringing older moviegoers back to cinemas and introducing a whole new generation of younger folks to the joys of the big-screen movie musical.

The Tributes to Miss Gayiel Von roll on

Several hundred of her friends and fans as well as family members of Sacramento’s late, great cabaret queen Gayiel Von packed in to the Pioneer Congregational Church Monday evening, Jan. 23, to salute her in song and say goodbye.

The star-studded crowd included current Council Member Steve Hansen as well as Sacramento’s new mayor Darrell Steinberg, who spoke jointly of Von’s tremendous talent, heart and public service on behalf of the city she loved and the LGBT community who adored her.

Real-life Broadway sweethearts Audra McDonald and Will Swenson will perform together in a rare treat for their fans, this Friday evening at the beautiful Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek.

A presentation of Feinstein’s Presents, the concert will showcase the remarkable talents of this dynamic duo, married since 2012, who have nine Tony nominations between them.

Discover Art, Science & History on Sacramento Museum Day

To the delight of the greater Sacramento area community, 26 museums and local destinations are participating in The 2017 Sacramento Museum Day, offering free or half-priced admission.

Most of the more than 25 museums will offer free admission from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, during the 19th annual event. Two destinations, located in residential areas — the Sacramento Zoo and Fairytale Town — will offer half-priced admission to offset parking and traffic control costs.
