The August 23rd Issue is Out Now263

Seventeen years is a pretty long time, but this month Outword Magazine is celebrating our 17th year of being in business, bringing GLBT news, entertainment and everything else to the greater Sacramento community. The owner, and publisher, Fred Palmer takes a moment to reflect of what that means to him. You can find his article on page 7.

The end of August always finds us gearing up for a Sacramento staple, Rainbow Festival, and this year is no different. With big name entertainers, like Deborah Cox,  appearing all weekend, there will be plenty to do above and beyond the Sunday Festival itself. They are still finalizing the schedule of events, so we were not able to bring you that in this issue, but if you look them up on Facebook you can surely get all the details.

On the other pages of this issue you will find a smattering of interesting tidbits that you have come to expect from us, like: Stonewall Dems Call Ryan a Disappointment, Chico Pride Celebration, a Free Car Wash, Not Quite Roughing It and much more.

Chris Narloch brings you lots of fun stuff about whats happening on the big screen and around the area. Chalk it Up comes to Sacramento and a great idea for a creepy, kookie Halloween mask. Also look for: Blondie and Devo, “All Star Drag Race,” River City Bowlers, Detour Alley and the new Zocalo in Roseville.

I know we say this a lot, but we really would like to thank all our advertisers and contributors (of all kinds), in this issue, and throughout the year(s) that make it possible to bring you Outword Magazine, in print and online, the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. It has been our pleasure serving the community for the past 17 years, and we very much look forward to many years to come.

Thank you all, and thanks for picking us up.
