Once again we are happy to report that the Sacramento International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (SIGLFF) is returning to the Crest Theatre October 9 through the 11th for three days of personally-selected LGBT themed films and shorts. Our slightly computer-challenged, Chris Narloch was able to still save the day and write all about it. Read every word on page 15.

The idea of Farm to Fork eating has certainly hit Sacramento hard. You see and hear it all over town. Usually some of the finest restaurants are touting how they are now, and maybe always have, used this philosophy when creating their menus, but it’s not restricted to only high dollar eateries. It is a way of thinking about what you are eating that not only helps local producers, but also minimizes preservatives and chemicals that our bodies just don’t need. With this issue, we have tapped into some sources about the Farm to Fork movement. Hopefully, you will find them both entertaining and informative.

Happy Anniversary Outword!511

As the end of Summer approaches, all of us here in Sacramento get to enjoy two very special things. The Rainbow Festival, and Outword Magazine getting another year older!

This coming weekend they will be blocking off the streets around 20th and K Streets to bring you one of the biggest parties of the Summer, and it promises to be a doozy! Our cover model, Dev, will be performing, along with Amber and a blast from the past, Exposé, just to name a few. Festivities start at 10 a.m. Sunday morning, and go to 6 p.m.

One thing you have always been able to say about Sacramentans is that they love their sports. Everything from bowling, running, basketball, softball, even roller derby, are available to participate in, right here in the river city. It’s always said, that one of the great things about living in California is the close proximity to great places to vacation. However, the first place most of us think about is a large city, the mountains or the amazing beaches. But if you are willing to venture just a little inland, you can visit a plethora of other great spots.
