Once a year we get to focus an issue of Outword on one of your favorite subjects, Food, Drink and Getting out of the house. We call if “Food, Beverage, Nightlife!,” and this is that very issue.

We have all been told time and time again that we are lucky to live someplace that offers so much, so close by. Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, Yuba river, the Pacific Ocean and, of course, Napa and the Northern California wine country.

Well, who doesn’t look good in a red dress? Ok, Fred doesn’t look good in any dress, but he’s an exception. Regardless he will be at the Red Dress Party, that is being held on Oct 6, to help support the Sacramento Gay and Lesbian Center. Look for their ad and story on page 11. It should be a lot of fun!

Once past the hard worker on the front cover, you will find lots of cool stuff in this Special Issue of Outword.

In this issue, we profile a couple of community members with interesting jobs or businesses. First is Luca Powell who owns Face and Body Emporium and just recently opened Yogurt Yazzle right next door. Second, Scott Shields who is the Chief Curator at the Crocker Art Museum. Then we check in with Robyn Learned with the Sacramento Gay and Lesbian Center and find out what she is up to. All interesting stuff, to be sure!
