Pete speaks on LGBTQ history, historic campaign

Pete Buttigieg, who has served as mayor of South Bend, Indiana since 2012, came out as a gay man in a self-penned essay published by the South Bend Tribune.
This past April he declared his candidacy for president of the United States.
Mayor Buttigieg and I spoke on the phone about his campaign, his values and who he looks up to in the LGBTQ community.

National Latinx HIV/AIDS Awareness Day Is October 15
National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD) is an annual campaign that addresses the impact of HIV and AIDS in Latinx communities in the United States, including the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
This day, established in 2003, is coordinated by the Latino Commission on AIDS and encourages Hispanic/Latinx communities in the U.S. to get involved by promoting and organizing HIV and AIDS prevention awareness activities.
