Front Street Animal Shelter seeks community assistance in the investigation of multiple deceased dogs found in a trash can

On August 4th, 2019, Animal Control responded to the 2400 block of Wacker Way in South Sacramento on a report of multiple dead dogs.
Upon arrival, Officers discovered six deceased black and white pit bull mix type dogs in a trash can.

All dogs were approximately 4-5 months of age and appear to have died during  a similar time frame. None of the dogs were micro chipped or wearing collars.

The trash can is an older County of Sacramento can with the letters "LE" painted on the exterior. The lettering appears to be worn from time and exposure to the elements.

Ring video surveillance has confirmed that the can was dropped off sometime between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on August 1st, 2019.

The investigation has stalled, and Animal Control is asking the community’s assistance in identifying the owner of the dogs. Additional information is necessary to determine the exact nature of events in order to ascertain whether a criminal investigation is merited.

Anyone with information, however slight is asked to call Chief Animal Control Officer, Jace Huggins at 916-808-5855.
