Take a Look at Outword’s New Web Site and Online Issue

We’ve got a new look here at OutwordMagazine.com, this new web site offers easier access and more features, as well as an online “Flip” format for reading Outword Magazine electronically.

Our new web site now features GLBT news, community news, community directories, reviews and much, much more. With this new web site we intend to provide our readers with what they have come to expect from the paper version of Outword, and much more.

Some of the articles will be the same as they are in print, but we will also be able to post stories that we just weren’t able to fit within the pages of the printed version. This is something we are very excited about. So when you go to OutwordMagazine.com be sure to spend some time poking around, and please, let us know what you think!

We are also very excited to be able to offer the printed version of Outword on our web site that can be read quickly and easily, without having to download a huge PDF file. Just click on the button that says “Read Outword Online” and you will be able to read each page as you do the paper version. You can grab the bottom corner and flip the page, or you can press the arrow button on the side of the page to navigate from one to the next.

Notice that as each page loads, there are little yellow boxes that show up and then slowly fade away. These are indicators that let you know there is a live web link in those spots — usually above a web address in the ads that are in the magazine. This means that you don’t have to jot down a web address and visit that site later, instead you can just click on the yellow box area and go to that address right away!

Along the bottom there are small thumbnail images of up to 15 pages that allow for direct access, all you have to do is click on your desired page. If the page you are looking for is not there, simply click the arrow button below the thumbnails to see more pages. Clicking once on a page will zoom in at that spot. Clicking again will zoom back out to full view.

Above the paper there is a menu bar that provides a wealth of options, like printing a page, saving pages as a PDF file, even having specific text read aloud. You can search each issue for specific words, writers or whatever you might be looking for, and when you find it, you can easily share it with a friend.

On the far right side of the menu bar is a button labeled “More.” Click on this button and drop down to “Back Issues,” this will bring up a drawer on the side of the window with back issues of Outword inside. Clicking on one of the older issues brings up a new window with the back issue in it.

There are more features available, but these are some of the really cool ones. Again, poke around and let us know what you think, and by all means, if you have a question, please don’t hesitate to ask.

So you see, there have been some pretty amazing changes that we have made to enhance our online presence and offer our readers a more satisfying experience, all the while offering our advertisers the ability to get their message out in a fun, new, entertaining way. We hope you like it.
