Travel 2021 Issue

Aug 12, 2021

Pack your bags and go on a journey with our Annual Travel Issue!

Let’s begin our issue on page 4 with a little bit of good news from CalHOPE.
They provide free outreach, crisis counseling, and support services to Californians that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. We can stay in good shape mentally, and then in good shape physically with the Race for the Arts (a 5K race also on page 4) that’s taking place on August 28th.

On page 6, the Sacramento LGBT Community center has some updates including hours for COVID and HIV testing, PrEP referrals and services though the Marsha P. Johnson Center South Sacramento, the National Trans Visibility March, Fentanyl Testing, and even an underwear giveaway this Thursday, August 12th!

We extend a warm welcome to the new Sacramento Gay Men’s Chorus Artistic Director Christian Bohm on page 7. He’ll be leading SGMC’s Big Comeback as they return to live rehearsals and performances with their Holiday Show in December.

Takeoff onto some travel news from the Sacramento Airport (on page 8) and learn about new routes being added by a few different airlines. On page 9, we’ve got a little info on Palm Springs thanks to our friends at VisitGayPalmSprings.com and the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism.

Learn about the magical country of Scotland and how to go there thanks to Eric Poole of Brand g Vacations, and his article on page 10. If you’re a music lover, flip to page 12 for the low down on the music festival travel experience.

Before you cross Texas off your list completely, keep in mind that there IS Dallas, and Dallas has the Oak Lawn community also known as the “Gayborhood”. The community is well known for its vibrant bars, dining, and clubs. Read all about it on page 13.

Gay Days at Disneyland returns for the weekend of September 17th-19th. Learn how to go and about the events taking place on page 14. If you’re not into the Disney scene, head over to page 15 for the 10 LQBTQ Must-Dos of New Orleans.

On pages 16 and 17, Chris Larloch is back with some movies for you to see, (as well as two to avoid) on the big screen.

Lastly, our cover story can be found on page 18. Find out why New Mexico is more than just Roswell, and why they are attracting visitors for their restaurants, wine and ale trail, and unique shopping destinations.

That’s just about all our suitcase can handle for now! Bon Voyage!
