California Pride 2025

May 21, 2025

Well, we’re deep into it now—Pride Season, that is! And that’s definitely not a bad thing. This is the second of four Pride issues we’re producing this year. Sac Pride is up next on June 12, and our fourth issue, Pride History, drops on June 26. But enough about future editions—we have so much to share with you in our brand-new California Pride issue!

We’ve got plenty of community news, a message from California Attorney General Rob Bonta, updates on the transgender military ban, a celebration of 25 years of Golden Rule Services, and a spotlight on “Welcome In,” which is leading with inclusion. There’s even a revealing poll about this administration—confirming what most of us already know to be true.

But wait, there’s more fun to be had in this issue, too!

The Stern Grove Festival is back, with a scheduled performance by Orville Peck. The SF Giants and SF SPCA are teaming up once again this September for Dog Day at the ballpark. And the Sacramento Gay Men’s Chorus will honor Matthew Shepard with their powerful new show.

Curious about what Sac Pride has planned? You’ll find tons of info starting on page 26—and don’t miss pages 28 through 30, which include a schedule, entertainer info, and a great parade route map. Lots of useful details!

Our very own Chris Narloch delivers once again with features like “The Tonys are Coming,” “Broadway Bares SF,” “Unseen,” and a preview of Music Circus right here in SacTown. Be sure to check out pages 31 and 33.

Looking for a unique and unforgettable weekend getaway? Head to page 34 to read about The Charles, a charming new boutique hotel. On page 41, Diana Kienle writes about Realm Cellars, plus there’s a quick blurb about the Palm Springs Equality Wine and Food Fest—it all sounds like a great time!

We’re also loving our two pages of memes. This time, we’ve got a mix of fun, funny, and some not-so-funny-but-very-pointed ones. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
And hey—you may have noticed a light blue ad featuring a familiar logo, announcing the return of Outword’s Supper Club! It’s time to get out on the town for dinner with community friends. Our first event will be at Roscoe’s Bar and Burgers on June 20. For more info and to reserve your spot, check out pages 34 and 44. It’s going to be a great night!

We hope you enjoy everything this issue has to offer, and we look forward to sharing our Sac Pride edition with you on June 12. Until then, let’s celebrate our pride and our amazing community!
