Kamala for President Endorsements

Aug 7, 2024

It’s easy to see that things are moving very quickly these days, especially in the world of politics. Where not very long ago, the playing field of this coming Presidential election was depressing and seemed hopeless, now it feels quite the opposite. Thank you, President Biden, for all that you have done for this country, but it is obvious now that stepping aside and letting Kamala shine, was the thing to do. Now that she is running for the big chair, there is new hope and a sense of relief. The side of Good has a great chance of defeating fear, despair and fascism. So, since this is all happening so fast, we have chosen to gather up as many important endorsements as we could and bring them to you to see what they had to say, and why. They begin on page 5. (Congratulations, Kamala, on your pick of VP running mate, Tim Walz! More on this in the next Outword.)

There are other important things happening and we have included some of them in this issue as well. For one, our sworn enemy, Kim Davis, is at it again. She is backed by a powerful legal group, and they are arguing that the recent overturning of Roe V Wade changes everything. You can read what Chris Walker from TRUTHOUT has to say about it on page 2.

Before you think this issue is all about politics, let us assure you that that is not the case.

We have two different books you might want to take a look at, a shout out to our own Midtown Farmers Market for winning an award and even some information about Sacramento’s Race for the Arts as it turns 25.

Of course, Chris Narloch brings us some great entertainment highlights like, local theater, including “Jersey Boys” at the UC Davis Health Pavilion, some classic films showing at both the Crest and Tower and even a nod to a remaining drive-in theater in Rancho Cordova.

Matt Burlingame regales us with his “Out & About” column filled with fun things to do, including another, different classic movie playing at the Crest, “Dirty Dancing.”

Of course, we love all our advertisers, and hope you do too, but we would like to say “hello” to The Waterboy Restaurant as they become the newest member of the Outword family. You can check out their new ad on page 12.

We will see you again in two weeks with our August 22, Special Anniversary issue. What anniversary, you ask? Ours. We are turning 29 this month.

Till then, take good care, stay cool and hydrated as we ride out the summer heat, and as always, thank you for picking us up.
