Farm to Fork Issue 2024

Sep 11, 2024

Regardless of some price gouging by some food suppliers, Sacramento has long been a great place to get both fresh produce and great food. This annual special issue of Outword celebrates just that. Great food. Welcome to our Farm to Fork issue!

Inside this issue we have lots of food related articles. From bats being used to remove insects that would kill crops, to the good and bad about eggs, to growing opportunities for beginning farmers, including advice for your home garden and even a story about American black truffles.

On page 10 Visit Sacramento shares some details and photos about this year’s upcoming Farm 2 Fork festival that will be held September 20 and 21 on Capitol Mall. As always, it should be a great event, and a lot of fun. Yay food!

As much as we love food, this issue contains other stuff as well. Look for: CCAF’s scholarship winner, Sac airport happenings, how to fight disinformation this election season… and beyond and even a Paella party in Healdsburg. (ok, so more food stuff)

Chris Narloch should get a standing ovation for his articles about live theater happenings, Sac Open Studios, queer men making music and, of course, the rundown on four movies that are playing around town. Matthew Burlingame delivers his knock-out “Out and About” column filled with fun things to do and see on page 22.

Activating Taste Buds showcases two wonderful lunch dishes served up by Jamie’s on Broadway. You can see those professionally shot, not really, photographs on page 24. (And, ok. More food)

So grab yourself an oh-so-analog paper copy or click until you are so full all you want to do is recline in your chair and read the issue from front to back.
