Annual Arts and Entertainment Issue!

Welcome to Outword’s Annual Arts and Entertainment Issue!

This edition of Outword is overflowing with fun thanks to our Arts Editor, Chris Narloch, with help from Matt Burlingame, Chris Allan, and Ron and Fred. We all worked overtime to bring you this very special issue.

As our current cover states, “It’s a Taylor Swift world, and we’re just living in it.” From her rumored romance with the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce to last year’s fiasco involving Ticketmaster, and record-breaking advance sales for her first big-screen concert film — which releases this Oct. 13 – America’s sweetheart is in the news almost as often as Donald Trump.

Speaking of Trump, Swift has spoken out against the former President in recent years, and it doesn’t seem to have affected her popularity or her record sales one iota. (Just try to cancel Taylor Swift. I dare you!)

But I digress. We were talking about our Arts Issue, which every September, features a variety of things to see and do, including new movies, a classic silent film shot in Sacramento, museum exhibits, and theater, plus funny folks like David Sedaris and Molly Shannon, as well as upcoming NorCal concerts.

But wait, there’s more: the return of Hitchcocktober at Sacramento’s Tower Theatre, a cool car festival, a great new biopic about a real-life NorCal migrant farmworker turned NASA astronaut that is a perfect watch during Hispanic Heritage Month, local dance performances, Sacramento Women’s Chorus, and SF Opera.

Chris Allan brings you an entire page of fun photos from the recent CrockerCon event at Crocker Museum, and Matt Burlingame shares even more hip happenings to entertain and inspire us in the coming weeks.

Since we realize that man cannot live on arts alone, we bring you news about an award-winning Sacramento pharmacy, advice on how to make your voice heard at public meetings, plus a carnival that teaches youngsters how to identify and stand up to bullying.

So, what are you waiting for? Give Taylor some love and flip through our online edition or pick up a paper copy at one of the businesses that support our community. We hope you enjoy this very entertaining issue of Outword.
