The Issue (complete with a Triple Salchow) is OUT… On ICE!

Our hearts swell with PRIDE for our latest cover boy, figure skater Jason Brown. Not only is he newly out — he also landed a spot on the 2022 U.S. Winter Olympic team. By the way, he’s single. Read more about Jason on page 10!

Kicking off the latest issue are a few noteworthy and newsy items. On page 3, there’s a story on the advancement of LGBTQ+ polices by the Human Rights Campaign during the first year of the Biden-Harris Administration. On page 4, learn how you can obtain free STD kits. Don’t think you need them? Well perhaps you didn’t know STDs are at an all-time high 6 years in a row. Consider yourself advised and protect yourself, people!

Now that our rant is over for the day, console yourselves by diving into a new book review on page 7. This time Terri Schlichenmeyer reviews “Personal Effects: What Recovering the Dead Teaches Me about Caring for the Living” by Robert A. Jensen.

Attention movie fans, especially those of Charlie Chaplin and Alan Rickman. Oakland’s Paramount Theatre will be showing “City Lights” featuring Chaplin on Saturday, February 19th, and the Crest Theatre will be featuring three films starring Alan Rickman on Sunday, February 6th. More details on page 8.

Musicals abound on page 12, as Chris Narloch gives us details on “Anastasia” (which will be performed February 1st-6th at the SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center) and “The Band’s Visit” (currently playing through February 6th at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Theatre).

Switching back to movie features on page 13, we’ve got three foreign film reviews and a review of the new “Scream” sequel, also courtesy of Chris Narloch. If you’re an American Idol fan, or were several years ago, perhaps you remember young David Archuleta? Well, he’s all grown up now at age 31, and he’s scheduled to perform at the Crest Theatre in February. More details are on page 15.

To bottom things out (snicker), we’ve got tips on how to “Treat Your Underwear Right” on page 16 and then a peek at some saucy cowboys modeling the new spring line from ES Collection USA–featuring stretch briefs, thongs, and bikinis—oh my! This guy-candy is not for the faint of heart and possibly NSFW.

Until next time cowboys and gals….
