Farm to Fork – Served up Outword Style
Always fresh, locally grown when we can, Farm to Fork has become a way of life here in Sacramento. Most new restaurants play heavy on the fact that they try to source what’s in season, what’s locally grown and then they make it delicious. Then there are companies, like Farm Fresh to You that make it very easy to eat farm fresh, because they deliver fruits, veggies, eggs, milk and much more straight to your front door. So, with this issue of Outword we pay homage to good eating, Sacramento style.
We are very proud to announce that our Publisher, Fred Palmer, has been hired on, part time, with the Sacramento Rainbow Chamber of Commerce as their interim Executive Director. As you all know, Fred has been a integral part of the LGBT community here in Sacramento for many, many years. He is very excited about this new, part time position and is looking forward to helping the chamber continue to achieve great things. You can read more details on page 4.
In this issue you will find stories about: Food at the airport, a Gay Games wrap-up, the actual Farm to Fork festival (Sept. 28-29), the Pineapple Classic, a surfer’s cookbook, AmadorArts and another wonderful recipe from our favorite Cave Grrl. Oh, and let’s not forget about the Bear Naked Chef..!
Chris Narloch has some great insights about some new music, the Sac. Ballet, Megan and Nick and even a little Bluegrass for good measure. Be sure to check out our new Upcoming Events calendar on page 27 and drop us a line about your upcoming event so we can include it. (We want to help make sure all the fun things to do don’t all happen on the same day..!)
So, check out our annual Farm to Fork issue. We hope you enjoy it, and here’s to good eating.
