It has been a while since Sacramento has had an LGBTQ+ owned and operated restaurant that the community can call their own. So, we are celebrating the opening of Roscoe’s in Midtown, right next door to Badlands dance club. We went and snapped some pictures and are sharing them with you, our readers. We got to nibble on some of the food items as well, and really liked what we tried. Roscoe’s is now serving Saturday and Sunday Brunch as well! Check out the pics on page 26.
As we are getting ever closer to Pride Month in June, more information about various Prides, including Sacramento’s, is coming down the pike. Go to page 15 to see some details about Sac Pride and check out their ad on page 16. There is also a Faces ad on page 25 with an awesome lineup of drag entertainers that is happening now and through July.
If you are traveling to SoCal, you will want to read page 28 to see what Santa Monica pride has planned as well. We will be sure to pack as much Pride info in our next issue in late May, so you can make plans for various Pride events. Keep an eye out for that. (But first, we have THIS issue..!)
There is a lot of stuff happening in LGBTQ+ news, including a new CA hotline just announced by Gov. Newsom to report hate crimes. We also have a member of the community that has won a prestigious award, and you can read about that on page 9.
Reading on, we have news on Nashville, Austin, the Sac County Fair, Concerts in the Park, a fun new Harley Quinn novel, and more.
Chris Narloch takes readers back to the ‘70s with a new documentary about the Queen of Disco, spotlights some other soulful sirens, and reviews the new gay play “The Hombres” and four new movies. But don’t stop reading there, or you’ll miss Matthew Burlingame’s latest “Out & About” column, where he announces the new Mr. Bolt Leather for 2024.
See? Fun stuff as well as some newsie things. You could say there is something for everyone…unless you’re Ron DeSantis! Pick up a paper copy or click on the delicious cobb salad on the cover.
