Our CA Pride Issue is Out Now!

Jun 7, 2023

With this issue we like to shed some light on other Prides that are happening all around us and that’s exactly what we did! First off, starting with the cover, we have a delicious drag performer, Tilly Creams, who was photographed while putting on a show at Davis Pride, which happened on June 4. We thought Chris Allan’s photograph was exceptional, so we graced our cover with it. Be sure to check out all her other pics on page 42.

Elsewhere in this issue you can find info about InterPride, Chico Pride, Pride events coming up all around Northern California, more on Sacramento Pride and even a month full of Pride in Napa and Yountville. You will also find a page full of Prides around the world on page 28.

Let’s not forget the mayor’s letter welcoming everyone to Sacramento Pride on page 5. Thank you, mayor Steinberg! You can also read about Steven Hansen’s announcement that he intends to run for Mr. Steinberg’s job, after he says it’s time to move on and let someone else be the mayor. Steve is a member of the Sacramento LGBTQ+ community and has been a long-time advocate for it.

Be sure to check out our new column, “Little Activisms” on page 15, a book review by Terri Schlichenmeyer on page 19, an article about “Overcoming Mental Health Barriers,” Out and About with Matt Burlingame” and “The World’s Largest LGBTQ+ Sporting Event Heads to Mexico” by Chris Allan on page 24.

On the entertainment front we have “Queer Films for Days,” “Take the Yellow Brick Road,” “She Was ‘Simply the Best’” and “Two New Multiplex Movie Reviews” all brought to you by Chris Narloch.

With a total of 64 pages, we think you will find plenty to keep your need for knowledge and entertainment satisfied.

Regardless, grab a big, thick meaty issue of Outword printed on paper, or click over and read it online. As always, for free.

Have a Happy and Safe Pride.
