Sacramento G&L Center Appoints New Executive Director

After a three-month search that included over fifty applicants, the Sacramento Gay & Lesbian Center has selected Wendy Rea Hill as its new Executive Director.

“We are excited that Wendy has accepted our invitation to serve as the new Executive Director,” said Gail Mancarti, the Center’s Board President. “We believe she brings the right combination of talents that will help us expand programs and make the Center a highly respected location for advocating and building our community.”

CHEER SF Named 2010 SF Pride Organizational Community Grand MarshalCHEER SF

The San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration Committee announced that CHEER SF is the 2010 Organizational Community Grand Marshal, a title the community bestows upon one organization that has made an exceptional contribution to the LGBT community in recent years.

CHEER SF performs high energy cheerleading routines for over one million people nation-wide and internationally every year. It is the largest, most visible, most fiscally successful and longest-running community-based, non-profit, adult cheerleading team in the world.

Holly Needs a Home

I am trying to find a foster home for Holly or a permanent home. She was found in my neighborhood and I wasn't able to find her previous owners.

We had her cleaned up and in foster care until we placed her with a family with a four-year-old son. She is a German Shepherd mix and she bonded well with her new family.

Openly Gay British Powerlifter Takes Powerlifting Deadlift Gold in MoscowChris Moore

Chris Morgan has successfully defended his world deadlift gold medal at the 2010 WDFPF World Single Event Championships in Moscow, Russia. Morgan is also the Gay Games defending Powerlifting champion and Federation of Gay Games Ambassador.

Representing Great Britain, Chris won the World Open Deadlift Title in the 82.5kg weight class with lifts of 210kg, 240kg and 250kg to clinch the World Drug-Free Powerlifting Championship, held April 23-25 in the Istrinsky district of Moscow.

Washington Blade to Return this WeekWB

Washington, D.C., April 26, 2010

The Washington Blade, the award-winning, 40-year-old newspaper of record for the LGBTQ community, will return to newsstands Friday, April 30, after its former parent company filed for bankruptcy and shuttered the paper in November 2009.

Since then, former Blade staff members have produced a new print and online publication each week under the name DC Agenda, owned by Brown Naff Pitts Omnimedia, Inc., which was founded by publisher Lynne Brown, editor Kevin Naff, sales executive Brian Pitts and other former Blade employees.
